What is a good diving mask?
It is important that your diving goggles fit well, seal on your face, but also feel comfortable.
A diving mask consists of the glass, a skirt if necessary, a frame (except for frameless) and a mask strap.
The quality of diving goggles is determined by the material used, model, fit and durability.
Good diving goggles are equipped with a soft silicone skirt, which ensures a good seal, because a mask that keeps filling up is very annoying.
This skirt can be transparent, which allows more light to enter your eyes, so you can see better.
The disadvantage of a transparent skirt can be that if your buddy shines his diving light past your head, the light enters through the skirt and then reflects on the inside of the glass towards your eyes.
The result is that your pupils start to constrict, so that you can no longer see anything for a moment, just like looking straight into a lamp and seeing nothing anymore.
Partly for this reason, technical divers often use a black and non-transparent skirt.
It is advisable to first treat a new diving mask before diving with it.
You do this to reduce the chance of fogging.
How?
Put a little white toothpaste on the inside of the glass and spread it
